My mother woke me up early (well...for me) and announced that we were going to the zoo. I was a little bit confused and tired but luckily she woke me from another bad dream so it was good.
Well aside from looking at the poor miserable animals pacing in their poorly built, pathetic excuses for homes, it was a decent trip. I took lots of pictures and tried to be as respectful as I could.
An amusing thing happened though. For those who have seen how I dress, I guess they might guess I get stared at almost continually (and glared at and whispered about and such) I am fairly used to it +laughs+ well as I stood watching an absolutely delicious lion (my gods he was handsome <3) I suddenly turn and see this couple who basically showed me up style-wise. They were decked out from head to toe in black and buckles, netting and patches, especially the female. And they looked so tall (their boots were huge) Not a word was said, we just stared at each other for a long time then went our separate ways.
Have some animals (yes my photography of zoo animals is pathetic...I will learn) Rhino chowing on dirt. I hoped she was not anemic....I should look into this.
After one of his Lionesses kicked him off a rock, he went and took a nap. Look at that handsome belly fur.
Here is Miss Lioness gloating about winning her rock. This was my favourite picture of the day. I love her skin.
He seemed to want to watch me for awhile which was kind of heart stopping. Gods if you had heard his voice (okay sorry...)
An elephant who was enjoying some delicious Alfalfa or grass hay perhaps. Her name was Dolly I guess. Elephants are so scary/beautiful/intense I have really learned to love and respect them in the last few months.
These are from when I was like...sixteen? And interning at a different zoo. I figured I would post them anyways.
Nadia the Palace(sp?) Cat. She was sooo puffy and funny (as you can see) Erm...Katia was not amused that we were trying to take her picture. She wanted to be fed.
